Commitment
Accessibility
Everyone should be able to use Locals of Texas — regardless of ability or device.
Our commitment
We are working toward conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.
What we've done
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and ARIA labels on interactive controls.
- Keyboard navigation and visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields.
- Alt text on images uploaded by business owners, with a default placeholder when missing.
- Color contrast reviewed against WCAG AA thresholds for body text and interactive controls.
- Forms labeled and validated with accessible error messages.
Known exceptions
Some features include third-party content that we do not control:
- Google Maps embeds on listing detail pages — accessibility is governed by Google.
- Stripe Checkout for subscription payments — accessibility is governed by Stripe.
- Business-submitted images may lack descriptive alt text until the owner provides one.
If you encounter an issue with one of these, we'll help you reach an accessible alternative path to the same information.
